There shone for us a benign star, When we all gathered from afar And flew, just like a busy bee, To Cambridge University.
We studied wisdom of the ages And turned the annotated pages. The songs we heard the poets sing A bell within our hearts did ring.
But these emotions of the mind We also did in leisure find: The pleasures of an Eastern smile Are Heaven to the bibliophile.
‘Twas much like a midsummer’s dream, When we sailed boats along the stream. The poems we read took on a life, Left far behind our daily strife.
The company of great men past Makes opportune a wealth so vast. But the bright company of friends Brings on a Love that never ends.
With these affections we have won From rising to the setting sun We’ll to four corners of the earth Return so rich and full of mirth.
One day these joyous times shall end And our souls depart with the wind. This little poem might disappear, But our Love will persevere.
